Report
For the first time the swiss Grand Prix tournament was in Locarno. The proximity of Italy attracted more italian players than usual, but the closeness to other go activities probably discouraged other players. Who came friday night profited of the welcome drink offered by the organizers All players received saturday and sunday morning a breakfast at ****Hotel Belvedere, where the tournament was held.
Saturday and sunday night the majority of the players went together to a pizzeria and played some animated rengo games after dinner. Not only it was an opprotunity for kyu players to play with or against high dans, but it also attracted the curiosity of other people who wanted to discover this strange game named go! Saturday morning we were interviewed by the radio, all local newspapers cooperated publishing a small report on the tournament before and after the tournament, the ambiance was very decontracted, the sun shone both days, the ambiance was very good and awarded with prizes for everybody at the end. The small Locarno Go Club enjoyed the event very much and hope to be able to organize this tournament next year again!
Best Regards,
the organization committee
